Classroom Update: Jan 16-19th

Highlights from this week:

-We finished and presented our body biographies this week. Check our classroom Twitter to see pictures of the groups presenting their hard work!

-During PLTW, pairs built a toy to try out their robotics kits. We had everything from cars and animals to skiers created!

-We started a new word study unit titled: why do we fight?

-Students were introduced to their next writing project....a research project called genius hour! Modeled after a practice that Google employees participate in, students chose something that they are passionate about or that can help their community or the future. Topics were chosen at the end of the week and we will start the research piece this coming week!

-We had a wonderful assembly dedicated to Martin Luther King. During this assembly, we also said a heartfelt goodbye to Mr. Humphrey who will be moving over to Bryant Elementary.

Upcoming Dates and Events:

-We will be taking the reading portion of the NWEA this Thursday in the afternoon. Please ensure that your child gets a good night rest and has a filling snack and lunch!

-Bingo night is on Monday, the 29th!

-Our next early release day is Wednesday, the 31st
