It has been such a whirlwind the past couple of weeks! This is a busy time of year filled with special events, learning, and joy. I want to say that I am thankful for each of you, your support, and our class full of bright and eager learners.
Highlights from this week:
-We participated in an event called Hour of Code where students had the opportunity to play coding games that introduce them to computer science ideas. Your child can practice more coding at home by going to this website: https://code.org/learn
-A new word study unit is underway! In this unit we have been discussing conflict resolution around the world and how young people can make a significant impact.
-We learned a new math game called fraction capture and have started to use math rotations in the classroom daily to study fractions. We have a math test coming up soon!
-In health we discussed healthy snack options, nutrients, and planning out a well balanced meal.
-We started an exciting biography unit. Everyone in our class chose someone they were interested in and are working together to learn about text features in nonfiction.
Upcoming Events and Reminders:
-The book fair is this week! We will be previewing the selection on Wednesday and students will have a chance to purchase books Thursday afternoon.
-Friday is BAGEL FRIDAY! Join us in the cafeteria for bagels, muffins, and mingle with staff and families.
-Lately we have had multiple students forgetting their data binders and planners at home. Please help your child remember these important items so that they can fully participate in class and work on important life skills that they will need for middle school and beyond.
