The weather has really started to turn towards winter! When we were outside this week, we had noticeably colder weather. Thank you to those of you sending your child with hats, gloves, and heavy jackets. Please remember that students will be going out even if it is cold so they should be dressed warm!
Highlights from this week:
-We had an amazing assembly about empathy and a classroom discussion that followed. We talked about how everyone can focus on this skill and care about people around us. A great way to work on this is helping with our food drive at school to help those that are hungry in our community.
-In health this week we talked about how we can make a difference at King and made posters to put around the school in areas that we think could be improved. We had posters about everything from clean bathrooms, asking others for help, and calming down when we have strong emotions.
-We started a new math unit about fractions this week and have been focused on the relationship between fractions and division. A lot of light bulbs went off when they noticed this connection!!
-All throughout the week we worked on finding essay ideas around us.
Notes for this upcoming week:
-Please continue to send in cans and other food items for the food drive. If everyone at King sent in just 2 items, we would reach our goal!
-The Turkey Trot is on Friday! Students will be outside doing their trot with their Kindergarten buddies. It is important that they are dressed warm and are wearing tennis shoes. If your child has allergies, please send them with an alternate snack for after their run.
-Please continue to talk with your child about empathy and about volume level. After our discussions about both later in the week, there was a noticeable difference. Small reminders and check ins at home will help keep everyone focused on these goals!
Have a wonderful week!
