We had such a productive week! After our focused work on respect at the beginning of the week, students worked together to define respect in our classroom and are continuing to strengthen this skill. Our week got better and better as it went on because of this work. Thank you for supporting this at home to ensure a respectful learning environment for everyone.

Highlights from this week:

-We finished our unit 1 math test and reflection this week.

-In science, we experimented with our reflexes and learned about the ins and outs of our eyes.

-We wrote our first reading letters and book recommendations. You can see our emoji recommendation board on Twitter! The class helped create and put this board together.

-Students finished up their personal narratives and began editing their work.

Homework and other updates:

This weekend, your child brought home their data binder and personal narrative with a bit of extra homework. Our final writing check before typing is to share our work with a family member at home and do a final edit together. Please assist your child with this before Monday. In addition to the usual weekly update in the data binder, take some time to look over their completed math test and reflection in the math section.

Since we have moved onto unit 2 in math, your child brought home their new math packet this week. If you haven't seen this yet and need another copy, please let me know and your child can get an extra packet on Monday.

I'm sure your child told you, but we are OFFICIALLY going to Space Camp!! The kids were so excited about the news when we told them this week.

As always, check our classroom Twitter for pictures and updates about daily happens in our room!

Events next week:

Fall family work day in the King Garden- Sunday, October 15th 1-3pm
