Weekly Update #4
- Oct 1, 2017
- 2 min read
I hope everyone had a wonderful week! It is hard to believe that we are already into October.
Highlights from the classroom this week:
We had a visitor teach us about rain gardens. During her demonstration, we were able to play a game and experience how the water cycle works from the perspective of a water droplet. We'll be doing more with rain gardens over the next few weeks in preparation for our work in King's rain garden later in October.
Students debated about communities during word study this week. They practiced supporting their thoughts with text evidence while using new vocabulary.
During science we created fingers with bones and tendons. Your child should have come home with their finger and explained how it worked to you!

Read the note from Mrs. Vosters below about how to help with fundraising for Space Camp!
Dear 5th grade families!
I am looking for a small group of parents that are willing to help with student fundraising this year. :-) There are 2 jobs that I need:
Parent Leader - Will work directly with Leslie Vosters in planning fundraising events. Will create a schedule with Leslie so that each leader is responsible for heading/leading a fundraising event.
Parent Helper - Is willing to help with the fundraising event(s) (if needed) but will not plan or lead events.
A few parents have already emailed the King Space Camp email account and have shared their interest in helping. If you are interested, will you please email the space camp account at aakingspacecamp@gmail.com with the subject "Student Fundraising" and let me know if you would like to be a Parent Leader or a Parent Helper with fundraising.
Thank you for your support!
Leslie Vosters (Space Camp Student Fundraising Leader)
