Weekly Update #3

Thank you to those of you that have signed up for conference times! If you still haven't please use the link provided to choose a time that will work for you. Again, if there is not a time that will work in your schedule, please let me know and we will figure out a common time.

Highlights from this week:

  • We took the reading NWEA on Monday.

  • In math we are learning about volume and testing out ways that we can find volume of objects using different strategies and tools.

  • Personal narrative writing is underway! We thought about what moves us and is meaningful in our lives, what are our fondest memories, and what people and places are important to us.

  • Reading this week focused on the difference between fiction and nonfiction. Students made detailed webs about both using IPads and took time to read both genres.

  • Where do we belong? This has been the big question during word study this week. Students talked with classmates about the communities they belong to, explored historical and information texts about communities, and practiced interview skills. Your child should have interviewed an adult this weekend to continue our work on this unit!

  • Don't forget to check out Twitter for pictures of these highlights and more!

A few notes about this upcoming week:

  • We will be taking the math NWEA on Monday.

  • Remember, Wednesday is a short day at King. School ends at 1:29pm. Students will be served lunch.
